About HIF Latam
Latam is the region where HIF Global was originated due to the strong winds of southern Chile. The iconic HIF Haru Oni e-Fuels facility in Magallanes, Chile, has been producing e-Fuels since late 2022 for its client Porsche, and the upcoming project is the HIF Cabo Negro e-Fuels facility. In Uruguay, HIF Global announced in 2023 the development of its largest e-Fuels facility in South America, to be located in Paysandú.
HIF Cabo Negro e-Fuels Facility
The plant will use renewable energy from the wind and a process called electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. The project will also capture CO₂ from biomass, industrial sources or directly from the atmosphere, and use a process of synthesis to combine the CO₂ and hydrogen to produce e-Fuels, including carbon neutral methanol (e-Methanol), gasoline (e-Gasoline) and carbon neutral Liquefied Gas (e-LG).

HIF Paysandú e-Fuels Facility
The HIF Paysandú e-Fuels facility will be our first project in Uruguay. It expects to produce approximately 250,000 tons per year of carbon neutral e-Gasoline, with the potential to decarbonize over 150,000 vehicles. It will provide over 3,000 jobs during construction and 300 during operations.
