The Matagorda e-Fuels Facility will be the first large-scale e-Fuels facility in the world and utilizes Texas’s unique natural resources to produce a synthetic hydrocarbon that can be utilized worldwide. The facility will produce approximately 1.4 million tons of e-Methanol per year when fully constructed, which can be utilized as shipping fuel or refined further into e-SAF or e-Gasoline.
Construction will require 4,000 jobs at peak and will support 140 direct jobs during operations, with many more indirect jobs contributing to its continual operation.
The project will be a major driver of innovation in clean energy and will significantly enhance energy diversity and security by introducing a scalable, renewable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. By reducing reliance on imported fuels and diversifying the energy supply chain, the facility will help strengthen the resilience of both domestic and global energy systems.
