July 6, 2026 – HIF Global’s Haru Oni e-Fuels facility has renewed its ISCC EU certification for the production of Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBOs) under the European Union's Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III), reinforcing its position as a pioneer in certified e-Fuels production.
The certification confirms that the facility continues to comply with the European Union’s sustainability framework for RFNBOs, including requirements related to renewable electricity use, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, traceability and chain of custody.
“Recognized for the second time under the ISCC EU framework, the certification reflects our continued compliance with the European Union’s sustainability, traceability and chain-of-custody requirements for RFNBO production. HIF Haru Oni remains the only facility outside the European Union certified for RFNBO e-Methanol production and the first facility in the world certified for RFNBO e-Gasoline production,” said Diego Fettweis, Chief Commercial Officer at HIF Global.
Issued by TÜV SÜD, ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is an independent certification system based in Germany and recognized by the European Commission. The certification covers Haru Oni’s value chain, including carbon dioxide sourcing, hydrogen production and the manufacture of e-Methanol, e-Gasoline and e-LG, confirming the facility’s capability to produce RFNBO-compliant fuels under applicable certification requirements.
Located in Punta Arenas, Chile, HIF Haru Oni is the world’s first integrated e-Fuels facility, producing synthetic fuels using renewable electricity, recycled carbon dioxide and green hydrogen. The facility has been producing e-Methanol, e-Gasoline and e-LG since 2022, demonstrating the technical viability of e-Fuels as a scalable solution to help decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors.
